Knife Description:
 
H E S T stands for "Hostile Environment Survival Tool" and was designed by Robert Young Pelton. The H E S T will give you the confidence that you need in difficult situations and will serve you well in outdoor situations as a light multipurpose wood crafting, field dressing or skinning blade.

The upgraded 2022 HEST features a 0.19 inch blade crafted from field tough D2 Tool Steel boasting a 59-62 Rockwell hardness. You will find every aspect of the HEST Original thought out: the balance, lashing points, thumb control, wire breaker and even the ability to remove the hollow, Micarta¨ handles for use as a neck knife or field expedient tool.

The HEST comes with a contoured KYDEX sheath that lashes nicely to gear via various points.

The DPx H.E.S.T Original fixed blade knife is manufactured in the United States by Ontario Knife Company.
 
The H E S T is a handy everyday carry knife with its bottle opener, pry bar and durable cutting edge and features unusually thick steel and a razor sharp cutting edge. The balance is superb and it will feel natural in your hand.

The wire break notch at the base of the blade, also acts as the choil allowing you to keep a sharp cutting edge the full length of the blade. Careful alignment of the choil and the opener also provides two very stable lashing points for an improvised longer spear handle, axe or dead drop trap.

There is a bottle opener (small pry tab) on the top of the H E S T. The 4.8 mm thick top area ahead of the bottle opener/pry tab allows you to hammer the blade through thick wood, creating a durable axe type tool.

The pry bar/scraper tool can be be used to open stuck objects, pull wood staples and for a multitude of other purposes. The pry bar tip can be sharpened when it gets dull.

The Handle Scales are hollowed out on the inside to provide a secret/emergency storage area for things like emergency or other things that you want to have readily available. The scales are held in place with brass slotted screws which can quickly be removed to open or remove the grips.

The H E S T knife/tool is also designed to be used with the skeletonized handle after removing the Handle scales.
