About Mora:

The town of Mora in Sweden has been a Center of knife making for many centuries. The naturally superior Swedish steel, combined with skilled craftsmanship, resulted in knives that became famous for their ability to hold a superior edge and sharpen easily.

The Frosts Blacksmiths in Mora were established in 1891 developed a basic functional style that became a classic, known simply as the “Mora Knife.”

TV Bushcraft presenters such as Ray Mears recommend the Mora Morakniv knives so there must be something good in them. In years gone by, traditionally made Mora knives (the Swedish equivalent is Morakniv) would have been made by using three slabs of steel and then forging them together. The center piece of steel would be a tougher grade such as crucible steel, with softer steels on the outsides, so that they can be sharpened, and then the strength would be in the core of the knife.

In fishing, sporting, hunting, survival, tradesman and the professional culinary industries, Mora knives are well known for their superior ability to cut, chop, clean and fillet.

Knife Description:

A knife for whenever you need one

The Morakniv Garberg is a powerful full tang knife designed to perform the toughest tasks it encounters. Manufactured at the Morakniv factory in Mora, Sweden, it's the most robust knife they've ever made. The 3.2 mm thick blade is made from high grade Swedish Stainless Steel, treated to make it even stronger and more durable.

The Blade has a Scandi-grind profile that makes it easy to keep sharp and a ground spine compatible with a fire starter. Whatever adventure you're on, you won't want to be without it, making your Morakniv a part of you.

Garberg was designed to meet the long-time wishes from Morakniv's most dedicated users, as well as the desires of the knife lovers that haven't yet discovered the world of Morakniv. The knife is developed to handle the most challenging tasks it may be
exposed to.

Inspired by their roots

With origins in the long tradition of Scandinavian outdoor life, the Garberg is an always reliable partner when heading out into the wild. No matter if you want to split the firewood for starting a fire or skinning a deer, the flexibility of this outdoor favorite will be there for you. The Swedish Stainless Steel is of the highest quality, the Scandi grind is both useful and provides extreme sharpness. Perfect for when you want to work close to your knife and the right feel is important.

Knife Features:

  • The coil shape in the heart of the knife is strongly related to the heritage of Morakniv. In Sweden, the knife with the red coil-shaped handle is probably as well known as the famous Dalahorse.
  • The rhombus pattern is a traditional pattern that is present in many variations in Mora and the region of Dalarna. In the handle, the pattern provides a significantly improved grip. Beside its high functionality, it also pays a tribute to their region and history.
  • The 3.2 mm (0.13")  thick blade goes all the way through the handle to the rear, which provides extra strength.
  • The rear part of the handle has a hole for fastening a Lanyard, rope or other gadgets according to preference.
  • A specially made and extra rugged Polyamide is used during the moulding process of the handle. Compared to other polymers, this one provides the handle with exceptional mechanical properties and makes it extremely stress resistant. This makes the handle close to unbreakable.
  • The symmetrical handle allows flexible use of the knife. The drop design on the back is big enough to keep the knife steady in your hand.
  • The knife is ground with a Scandi grind which makes it easy to keep sharp.
  • The blade has a semi-matte finish appreciated among the outdoor community.
  • The blade is 0.13" thick and 100 mm (4.3") long. It is made of high-quality Swedish Stainless Steel (12C27N) that is treated to the highest quality in their own factory.
  • The spine of the blade is ground to make the edge perfect for use with a fire starter. This means that you do not need to use the edge of the blade when starting your fire, which makes your knife stay sharp for longer.

The Multi-Mount kit is the perfect way of maximizing the possibilities of your knife.

Together with the Multi-Mount fastening system, your Morakniv Garberg is just seconds away. Place it on your snowmobile, canoe, or ATV – when the knife is placed in the holder it can take a bumpy ride on any vehicle. The knife is fixed to the Multi-Mount with a hook and loop strap. This ensures that the knife is held securely in place while being quick and easy to release.
