Since early times, the Norwegian knife has been an important companion in everyday life. Norwegian knife manufacturing today is clearly influenced by traditional shapes and materials that were established hundreds of years ago.

A well-made leather sheath and handles of wood, leather, and antler seem to be a legacy that Norwegians want to preserve.

Most knives are manufactured from triple laminated Stainless Steel. The core is made of high alloy Steel which gives it a lasting, razor-sharp edge. It is protected by two layers of tough stainless steel which protect the blade against breakage and corrosion.

Knife Description:

If you have ever wanted to build your knife or just curious how they are put together nothing beats hands on learning. The Knife Making Kit form Karesuando offers this at a reasonable price.

The set comes with everything you need to make your own fixed blade from the blade to the sheath and comes with an instruction guide to help you navigate the entire process. There isn't a better way to show off your love of knives than to make and carry one you make.

The Kit contains a hardened blade, a piece of Curly Birch Wood, Reindeer Antler and a Brass Shot Plate. In addition, the set contains Leather and Yarn so you can make a sheath as well. You place the Plastic Protector inside the Sheath to protect it from damaging the inside.
 
The set comes with a manual. Combined with a little skill and some tools of your own, you can create your own Scandinavian knife. You can opt to follow the manual to the letter, or let your own creativity roam free!
Karesuando says you need the following things to create the knife: very strong glue (epoxy or araldite), a saw, files, sandpaper of different grain sizes, small clamps, bench screw, drill (preferably drill press, but not necessarily), hammer, small ruler, knife, punch to make small holes with, pliers, needle and a pick.

The 9.3 cm Blade is very sharp and is made from high quality Sandvik 12C27 Stainless Steel (HRC 57-58).

The Handle Slab is Curly Birch Wood and also has a Reindeer Antler Spacer.

The Sheath will be made from Swedish vegetable tanned Cow Hide Leather.
