This is the bigger brother of the famous P-38 U.S.Military Can Opener made famous back in WWII.
It's about twice the size and much easier to use compared to the smaller P38. The P-51 Military Can Opener is a full 2" – 5.1 cm long. This added length affords more leverage when opening cans and does not require as much thumb pressure to use.
Our P-51 Military Can Opener is constructed of cold rolled steel that will not easily bend or break. Stamped “US Shelby Co.”.
The larger P-51s are included with United States Military "Tray Rations" (canned bulk meals). They are also still seen in Disaster Recovery Efforts and have been handed out alongside canned food by numerous Rescue Rrganizations, both in America and abroad.
Excellent for Emergency Back-up if you store any type of canned goods or for your Survival Tin. Remember the GI’s Golden Rule – Always make sure one has a P-38 or P-51!
