About Mora:
The town of Mora in Sweden has been a center of knife making for many centuries. The naturally superior Swedish steel, combined with skilled craftsmanship, resulted in knives that became famous for their ability to hold a superior edge and sharpen easily.
The Frosts Blacksmiths in Mora were established in 1891 developed a basic functional style that became a classic, known simply as the “Mora Knife.”
TV bushcraft presenters such as Ray Mears recommends the Mora knives so there must be something good in them. In years gone by, traditionally made Mora knives (the Swedish equivalent is Morakniv) would have been made by using three slabs of steel and then forging them together. The center piece of steel would be a tougher grade such as crucible steel, with softer steels on the outsides, so that they can be sharpened, and then the strength would be in the core of the knife.
In fishing, sporting, hunting, survival, tradesman and the professional culinary industries, Mora knives are well known for their superior ability to cut, chop, clean and fillet.
