Knife Description:

State Of The Art Blade

The Kasumi Masterpiece series exemplifies the pinnacle of Japanese knife making, highlighting the stunning work of hundreds of years of Japanese Samurai blacksmithing.

The original Damascus series from Kasumi feature state of the art blades made possible only by the most advanced manufacturing techniques.

Kasumi knives are made of 33 layers of folded steel. Only the middle layer acts as the cutting edge, and it is made using V-Gold No. 10 Stainless Steel. Each Kasumi knife blade is a high carbon stainless steel with cobalt, manganese, molybdenum and vanadium for added durability and ease of sharpening. V-Gold No. 10 is a high quality steel developed exclusively for knives and scissors. The addition of cobalt to this steel requires special tempering in order to maximize the full benefit of this steel. Sumikama’s technique for this special tempering is a closely guarded secret.

Hardened up to HRC 60-61 and coated in Damascus layering, the blade on the Kasumi knife is both beautiful to see and as practical to use. Kasumi Damascus knives are ideally suited for professional use.

The Kasumi Japanese Chef / Santoku Knife is a traditional Japanese styled, all purpose classic knife. The straight blade makes this knife perfect for chopping.

Like a Chefs Knife, the Santoku is used for just about every cutting job in the kitchen. The name means “three virtues.” Depending on who you ask, the name refers either to the three types of foods it works well with—vegetables, proteins, and fruit—or for the three types of cuts at which it excels—slicing, dicing, and chopping.

Full Tang Handle

A full tang is enveloped by a rounded black Pakkawood Handle in the traditional Japanese shape. The rivets of the Handle evoke an east meets west design concept, but overall the design is one of elegance and practicality.

Made in Japan

Japan has always revelled in its isolation, a mysterious land filled with mountains, dragons and the sea. The Kasumi has always understood to be a spring mist, a well known phenomenon in Japan, it will settle over the mountains and sheltered valleys of rural Japan. The ‘Kasumi’ describes the pattern on the blades.

All Kasumi knife purchases come in a beautifully presented cardboard gift box.

Note: Knife should be handwashed only!
