Since early times, the Norwegian knife has been an important companion in everyday life. Norwegian knife manufacturing today is clearly influenced by traditional shapes and materials that were established hundreds of years ago.
A well-made leather sheath and handles of wood, leather, and antler seem to be a legacy that Norwegians want to preserve.
Most knives are manufactured from triple laminated Stainless Steel. The core is made of high alloy Steel which gives it a lasting, razor-sharp edge. It is protected by two layers of tough stainless steel which protect the blade against breakage and corrosion.
Knife Description:
The Karesuando Boar Survival Knife made in the Artic North of Swedish Lapland with a focus on functionality combined with traditional Nordic Design.
The 10 cm Blade is very sharp and is made from high quality Sandvik 12C27 “surgical” Stainless Steel (HRC 57-58) sharpened with a flat Scandinavian grind. The “spine” of the blade has slightly sharpened edges to make it suitable for use when striking a firestriker steel.
The Blade extends with an internal tang that stretches approx 2.5″ into the handle and is secured very firmly so that it won’t come loose. In fact Karesuando offers a Lifetime Guarantee and if the blade would ever come loose you will get an new knife straight away! Basically the blade will never come loose! The internal tang design is very beneficial from a weight perspective.
The Handle is made from Curly Birch Wood stained with a golden red/brown colour and also has a reindeer antler spacer.
The Sheath is side stitched and made from Swedish vegetable tanned Cow Hide Keather. It has an inserted plastic Sheath Liner. It also features a loop for the Firestriker Steel.
The Firestriker Steel is and “Army” size (9.5mm in diameter) ferrocerium stick with a reindeer antler handle.
Each Karesuando Knife is painstakingly hand crafted for the ultimate Quality and Outdoor Durability. The Boar Survival Knife will make an excellent Bushcraft, Camp or Survival Knife.
