About Cognet Cutlery:
The original Douk-Douk is completely manufactured in the Cognet Workshops in Thiers, France using the traditional and authentic way, with the same methods and materials that have made its reputation around the world.
The Carbon Steel is carefully selected. The production has remained almost entirely manual which guarantees you a high quality and fidelity to the spirit of the knife intended by its designer, Gaspard said Gaston Cognet.
Knife Description:
Cheap, simple, but ultra-reliable, the Douk-Douk Knife has been used for over 70 years by the French; it sports a single carbon steel blade and folded Steel Handle. It is manufactured by the French Cognet Cutlery which was established in Thiers, France back in 1820.
Famous in the former French colonies for over 70 years and used recently for decades by the Army and in the French Foreign Legion, these are tough.
Nothing fancy about them; just tough, real working, single-blade Knives.
The Douk Douk’s 8.5 cm Blade is manufactured out of XC75 Carbon Steel with a Blade Thickness of 2.8 mm and hardened to RcH 50-53 and flat ground using water grinding wheels. This Folder comes with a Polished Blade.
The Handle is made of folded Stainless Steel with a Green Finish with a Lanyard Loop and green Leather Lanyard.
This model comes in a nice green Leather Sheath with Belt Loop and Pocket Sharpening Steel.
Because they are relatively light and flat, they are great for the pants pocket. Their robustness makes them exceptional for any toolbox. Neat tools for sure.
Made in France.
