High Carbon Tool Steel does react to acids and alkalis (oil from your fingers), and the steel can discolor over time, which we feel adds character to the blade. In addition, high carbon tool steel will rust / corrode if it is not cleaned and oiled on a regular basis. Please also be aware that discoloration and/or rust will not affect the blade performance.

The bottom line is if you are looking blade that holds an edge, is razor sharp and re-sharpens easily, and you are willing to keep it maintained, this is the blade for you.
 
Product Description:
 
This Ken Richardson Drop-Point Hunter Knife is made of 1085 Blue Tempered Spring Steel. This is 0.85% carbon. (.094″ thick) The high carbon allows for edge holding ability at a low temper making sharpening easy with a stone, steel, or ceramic stick. The Blade can rust so it must be kept lightly oiled or cleaned to protect when stored either in or out of the Scabbard.
 
Your Drop-Point Hunter includes a hand stitched Leather Sheath and is 11 oz. American cowhide. The Leather is tanned by Herman Oak in St. Louis, Mo. to assure there is no salt water or ocean water used in tanning which leaves salt in the leather, which would rust the knife.
 
The Knife comes with a Limited Lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
