Knife Description:
 
This project, sponsored by the Italian C.O.F.S. (Comando Operativo Forze Speciali) and its Commander: Gen. Bertolini, was also previously suggested by many international knife collectors.

A restyling of the famous "Pugnale da paracadutista assaltatore mod.1939", Paratroper Knife a masterpiece of the Italian Military History.

The new Operativo Knife maintains the shape, structure and proportion of the original one. It was only made stronger, adding some functional features and producing it with modern Mil-Spec materials and processes.

Unexpectedly, thanks to these few modifications, the new knife is absolutely competitive with the best modern tactical knives around.

The Blade is a Spear Point Blade with a surface grinding on the edge. The material used for the Blade is Bohler N690 Cobalt  Steel, nicknamed „Austrian 440“. The Steel has its nick from the Austrian manufacturer Bohler, who is the only company that makes this steel, worldwide.

The N690 is closely related to 440C. The N690 is containing more cobalt and some other materials than 440C. This makes the N690 more corrosion resistant and harder than the original 440C.

The Grip is made out of black Nato-Mil-Spec Thermoplastic Elastomer Forprene. Forprene is an extremely tough synthetic material that feels like hard rubber. The Grip is slip resistant with or without gloves, with wet or dry hands.

The Operativo carries in a double sheath style sheath. The outer Sheath is a nylon soft sheath with straps. Inside there is a hard Sheath made of a nylon composite with 15% fiberglass. This is where the blade actually rests. The 39-09 double sheath is designed to be strapped to the calf in the style of Italian parachutists. Removable hard inner sheath. Hard side storage case.
