Machetes aren’t just for manual harvesting and horror movie villains! The distinctive shape of the blade makes it a powerful tool for big clearing, cutting and carving tasks that would normally cause fatigue. Outdoor adventurers can buy a machete for a range of practical purposes, including (but not limited to):

• Cutting a pathway on trails. On lesser known and/or private trails, and even for public trails in New Zealand, trees and shrubs can grow so quickly that they block pathways or make it difficult to continue. Having a machete on hand means you can clear a path in seconds.
• Clearing brush for a resting spot, camp site or vantage point. Machetes offer a quick solution for clearing brush and undergrowth so you’ve got a clear place to make camp or to settle in whilst hunting. You can also use them to split/process available firewood on site.
• Survival. Heading somewhere with dangerous wildlife present? Fend off angry animals or neutralise venomous snakes in seconds. All of our machetes online are rated for critical survival situations, although the kukri is a particularly good all-rounder due to the spear tip point.

When choosing from our range of machetes for sale, keep in mind what you’ll use it for as well as the overall composition of your pack. For example, there are longer and shorter blades, and bigger isn’t always better – the Cold Steel Katana Machete is great for extra reach, but a shorter and lighter parang machete might be a better buy for long journeys and getting through all that green stuff.
