Knife Description:

The Japanese Higonokami Knife is a Friction Folding Knife type Piemontais, with a tradition of over 160 years of manufacturing. The Blade is manufactured from San Mai Blue Steel; a sandwich of three Layers whose heart is a White Steel Disk, Shirogami or Aogami with a very high Carbon content, 60 to 64-66 HRC.

Higonokami Knives have been loved for a long time by a lot of persons all over the world.

Motosuke Nagao is an Expert Blacksmith in the 4th Generation who makes Higonokami Folders in the Hyogo Prefecture Miki City, the traditional birthplace of the Higonokami knife.

The 10 cm Blade manufactured from San Mai Blue Paper Steel (Aogami) and is hardened to 60-64 on the Rockwell Scale.

Its inverted Tanto Blade Shape is balanced with a handle of the same width, which gives the knife a simple, streamlined shape. When closed, the Blade with extended Tang is entirely sheathed by the folded Brass Handle.
The folded Brass Handle is stamped with Kanji bearing the maker’s name and the Blade material. The result is a traditional Japanese-style Knife with a beautiful aesthetic that stands the test of time
These knives are extremely popular in Japan and could be considered as the Japanese Douk-Douk, Opinel or Mercator Knife.

Because the Higonokami Pocket Knives are relatively light and flat, they are great for the pants pocket. Their robustness makes them exceptional for any toolbox. Neat tools for sure.
