Oak and black 12C 27N Stainless Steel mix to create a contemporary twist fn the timeless N°08.
The BLACK finish on the blade and on the Ring is made by a special surface treatment (electrolytic bath) that helps reinforce their resistance to corrosion (approved for direct food contact).
The N°08 Black Chene Edition features a Handle in French Oak and a Safety Ring for locking the Blade in the open or closed position.
The double Virobloc Safety Ring was created by Marcel Opinel in 1955 and locks the Blade either in open or closed Position. Cut out of stainless steel, the Virobloc has two sections, one fixed and one sliding. In addition to locking the blade open (safety in use), it is now possible to lock the blade closed (safety in transport).
The Sandvik 12C27M Stainless Steel is capable of undergoing the heat treatment that gives it its good hardness is called martensitic. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40%, giving it a good cutting edge and an excellent resistance to corrosion.
