When paired with ultralight Titanium Skewer or Shepherds Stakes, one Nail Stake provides as much versatility for staking a tarp or tent as you need in virtually any hard ground, as might be common above the treeline in the mountains or otherwise in rocky areas.

A Nail Stake can be also be used to generate a "pilot" hole for the rest of your stakes, without risking bending those stakes. Then, after the pilot hole is generated, the lighter stake can be inserted into the hole made by the Nail Stake.
