This particular D2 High Carbon Steel is recognized for edge holding ability. It hones to an unbelievable razor sharp edge (better than any Stainless Steel), retains its Edge better than most Stainless Steels, and is easier to sharpen.

High Carbon Tool Steel does react to acids and alkalis (oil from your fingers), and the steel can discolour over time, which we feel adds character to the blade.

In addition, High Carbon Tool Steel may rust/corrode if it is not cleaned and oiled on a regular basis.

The bottom line is if you are looking blade that holds an Edge, is Razor Sharp and Re-Sharpens easily, and you are willing to keep it maintained, this is the blade for you.
